Why Empower Law?
In 2011 Geoff and Lynice Wigney established Empower International, a fair trade, not for profit, registered charity. The purpose of this charity is to combat the injustices that arise in the perfect storm when extreme poverty and a lack of value attributed to women exist.
What does Empower stand for?
-
We are all about “empowering the privileged to empower the poor”.
-
We believe in the priceless value of every person.
-
We oppose the many injustices of extreme poverty, particularly human trafficking and sexual slavery.
-
We believe every person should know and experience dignity, honour and respect.
-
We seek to encourage awareness, compassion and a strategic response to make generational change for people living in poverty... one life at a time.
-
We support carefully selected organisations of integrity, working especially to empower girls physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and socially.
-
We believe that rescue is necessary, but prevention is ideal.
-
We believe it is crucial to support vulnerable children and to ensure they are educated and cared for in a safe and loving environment.

When Geoff decided to start a sole legal practice, it made sense to call it “Empower Law”. The income earned from Empower Law enables Geoff and Lynice to undertake all their involvement in Empower International on a voluntary basis. In addition to that, 5% of all professional costs charged by Empower Law are donated to Empower International.
